Custom Tyvek Bags: A Buyer's Guide to Materials, Printing and MOQ

Developing custom Tyvek bags involves more than choosing a shape and adding a logo. The material finish, printing method, zipper, labels and order quantities all influence the finished product-and the cost of bringing it to market.

For brands, wholesalers and promotional product buyers, a clear specification helps make supplier quotations easier to compare. It also gives the manufacturer the information needed to recommend suitable materials and prepare a sample.

At Shanghai KIYI, we manufacture custom bags using original DuPont™ Tyvek® and support material converting, printing, fabric development and finished bag customization. This guide explains the key decisions to make before placing an order.

1. Start with the Intended Use

Before selecting a material or requesting a price, explain how the bag will be used.

A cosmetic pouch needs different features from a large tote. A beach accessory may prioritize an easy-to-clean surface, while a fashion bag may require a particular texture, lining or hardware finish.

Useful details to share include:

Product type and intended use.

Target dimensions and carrying capacity.

Preferred appearance and feel.

Zipper, lining and pocket requirements.

Expected order quantity.

Target delivery date and destination country.

Reference photos, sketches or a technical pack can help communicate your idea. If the specification is still being developed, a manufacturer can discuss material and construction options before sampling.

2. Choose the Right Tyvek Material and Finish

Tyvek has a distinctive paper-like appearance, but different grades and finishing processes can produce different results. The complete material specification matters when developing a custom bag.

KIYI offers material development and converting options, including PU lamination and combinations with nonwoven fabric, knitted fabric and PE. The appropriate construction depends on the product's intended use and desired finish.

Material or Finish What to Discuss with Your Manufacturer
Original Tyvek Grade, texture, weight and suitability for the bag structure
PU-laminated Tyvek Surface finish, softness, color and cleaning requirements
Washed or creased Tyvek Desired texture and consistency between samples and production
Other composite constructions Layer composition, lining needs and finished material performance

When comparing quotations, ask suppliers to identify the Tyvek grade and any additional layers. Two bags described as "Tyvek bags" may use different constructions and therefore have different costs and characteristics.

Water Resistance: Check the Finished Bag

Material water resistance and finished bag water resistance should be assessed separately.

Even when the fabric resists water, liquid may enter through a standard zipper, stitching holes or seams. Explain whether you need protection from occasional splashes or a more demanding level of water resistance.

Any performance claim should match the complete bag construction and relevant testing.

Environmental Information: Ask for Specific Documentation

If environmental performance is part of your brand positioning, request information about the exact material you plan to use.

Recycled content and recyclability are different claims. A composite bag also includes layers, inks, zippers and other components that need to be considered.

Ask which documents apply to the raw material, the finished composite or the manufacturing facility. This helps your team use accurate product descriptions.

3. Plan Your Printing and Artwork

Printing is a major part of the appearance of custom Tyvek bags. Share your artwork early so the manufacturer can assess the design, material and production requirements together.

Important points include:

Whether the artwork is a simple logo or a full-color pattern.

Whether printing is required on one or both sides.

Whether the design extends to the edges of the panels.

Brand colors or Pantone references.

Small text, gradients and fine details.

Placement around seams, folds and zippers.

The printing method should be selected for the artwork and chosen material. Ask to see relevant printed examples rather than relying only on digital mockups.

KIYI can provide existing printed swatches free of charge for customers to assess print quality. Confirm shipping arrangements with our team. For a custom design, an approved pre-production sample provides a reference for the finished appearance.

4. Customize the Details That Define Your Brand

A printed logo is only one part of private label bag development. Accessories and construction details can make the product more consistent with your wider collection.

Customization options can include:

Bag dimensions and shape.

Zipper style, color and puller.

Woven labels and silicone logo patches.

Webbing handles and shoulder straps.

Lining and internal pockets.

Hardware and packaging.

Some custom components have their own minimum quantities and lead times. A specially made zipper puller, for example, may affect the project differently from a standard component.

Identify which features are essential and where standard options are acceptable. This helps the manufacturer prepare a practical proposal.

5. Understand MOQ and Multiple-Design Orders

For custom Tyvek bags, minimum order quantity should be understood at two levels:

The total quantity required for the same bag style and size.

The minimum quantity for each printed design within that order.

At KIYI, the following products support a minimum of 100 pieces per printed design, provided the combined order meets the total MOQ for the same style and size.

Product Total MOQ per Style and Size Example of a Multiple-Design Order
Selected Tyvek cosmetic pouches 500 pieces Five print designs × 100 pieces
Selected PU-laminated Tyvek zipper totes 300 pieces Three print designs × 100 pieces
Selected washed Tyvek bags 200 pieces Two print designs × 100 pieces

A standalone order of 100 pieces does not meet these production minimums. Different bag styles or sizes cannot be combined to reach the MOQ.

This arrangement allows a brand to introduce several prints within one bag style while meeting the total production requirement. Confirm the applicable MOQ and whether any material or accessory changes affect it before finalizing your collection.

6. Approve a Sample Before Bulk Production

Sampling gives you an opportunity to review the material, printing and construction together.

KIYI's typical custom sampling time is 4–6 days after the required specifications and artwork are confirmed. Special materials or accessories may require additional time. The sample fee should be confirmed for the specific project.

When reviewing a sample, check:

Finished dimensions and shape.

Material texture and layer construction.

Print colors, clarity and placement.

Zipper operation and accessory details.

Stitching, handles and lining.

Label position and overall finish.

Record any changes clearly and approve the final specification before production begins.

7. Allow Time for Production and Shipping

Typical bulk production at KIYI takes 15–35 days, depending on the quantity and confirmed project requirements.

Ask your supplier to explain when the production lead time starts and whether custom components require additional preparation. Shipping and customs clearance should be planned separately from manufacturing.

For a seasonal launch, share your required arrival date at the quotation stage. This allows the team to assess the schedule before you commit to an order.

8. Request a Quotation You Can Compare

A useful quotation should reflect a defined product specification.

Send your supplier the bag type, dimensions, material preference, quantity, artwork, accessories and destination. If you have a target budget, include it so the manufacturer can discuss suitable options.

Ask the quotation to clarify:

Unit price and the specification it covers.

Sample fees.

Any separate setup or custom component charges.

Packaging.

Trade terms and shipping costs.

Production lead time.

If you are considering several order quantities, request quantity-based pricing for the same specification. This makes it easier to evaluate your launch order without changing multiple variables at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own logo and print designs?

Yes. KIYI supports custom printing and branding, including labels, silicone patches and other details. Share your artwork and specifications so we can assess the production requirements.

Can I order 100 custom Tyvek bags?

For the products listed above, 100 pieces is the minimum per printed design, not the total order minimum. The combined quantity must meet the MOQ for the same bag style and size.

Can you help develop the material as well as the bag?

Yes. KIYI supports Tyvek material converting, printing, composite development and finished bag manufacturing. We can discuss material options alongside your bag design.

Are all Tyvek bags waterproof?

Water resistance depends on the complete construction, including the material, zipper and seams. Tell us the intended use so we can discuss an appropriate specification and any testing requirements.
